This is great. Regrets, I’ve had a few. Time stops for no one. I wish I knew that earlier. But you’re dad is right. The older you get, the faster it moves which is ironic. I’m 53 and stayed longer in a place in corporate America thinking I could change it. And now I’m crazy to try to change it by going out on my own and starting a business.
Love that song btw. So many songs about time now that I think about it. “Time keeps on ticking, ticking into the future.” “I’ve got too much time on my hands...it keeps ticking away, ticking away from me.”
Thanks Ivan. I would never dismiss the importance of making money, and for many it's tough to even earn a living wage, but time is the resource that you can never get back.
It's lonely because ultimately everything is on your shoulders. You're responsible for everything. Even if you don't make every decision or do all the work, it still all rolls up to you. And no one at the company truly understands what that feels like.
CEOs combat the loneliness by having peer groups with other CEOs, who get it / understand what it's like being a CEO.
This helped me a lot as someone with a lot of ambition and just starting a family. Thanks for writing it Ben
Happy to help, thanks CJ!

Thanks for taking “time” to write and share this.
Thanks Omar - I appreciate the comment. There are quite a few songs about time, but "Time" is the one for me. :)
This is a brilliant piece, Ben. A lot of it resonates strongly with my own path. Money one can always make, while time can only be spent

This is the kick in the ass that we need but not the kick in the ass that we deserve 💛
